Labaton Sucharow LLP Announces New Office Opening and 2010 Attorney Promotions

NEW YORK (January 20, 2010) — Labaton Sucharow is pleased to announce that as a result of the increased demand by its growing institutional investor client base to address more directly corporate governance and fiduciary duty issues, the New York-based Firm has recently opened an office in Wilmington, Delaware, where the vast majority of U.S. corporations are incorporated.

The Delaware office will be managed by Sidney S. Liebesman. Mr. Liebesman, a former Partner at another national securities law firm, was elected to Partner at Labaton Sucharow effective January 1, 2010. A former decorated police officer and a member of the department’s elite Emergency Response Team, Mr. Liebesman will continue his already distinguished career representing institutional and individual investors in complex securities litigation and other cases involving shareholder rights. He earned a J.D. from Villanova School of Law in 1995 and a B.A. from the University of Delaware in 1986.

In addition, Labaton Sucharow announces that the following attorneys have been promoted effective January 1, 2010:

Jonathan Gardner (New York) was elected to Partner. Mr. Gardner, who has been with the Firm for 14 years, represents institutional and individual investors in securities litigation. He has been responsible for prosecuting many of the Firm’s options backdating cases and has represented the Court appointed Successor Liquidating Trustee of Lipper Convertibles LP in actions against its former auditor and over withdrawn former limited partners. David J. Goldsmith (New York) was elected to Partner. Mr. Goldsmith, who has been with the firm for more than 11 years, represents institutional and individual investors in securities litigation. He is presently a senior member of the Lead Counsel team prosecuting the high-profile securities class action against Countrywide Financial Corporation, its auditors and certain underwriters of its securities offerings. (Benjamin N. Richard T. Joffe (New York) was promoted to Senior Counsel. Mr. Joffe’s practice focuses on complex class action litigation, including securities fraud, antitrust and consumer fraud cases. Since joining the Firm in 2001, Mr. Joffe has pursued shareholder claims against Banc of America Securities LLC, Morgan Stanley, General Motors, Qwest Communications Int’l, Inc., Deloitte & Touche LLP and Fannie Mae, among others. Gregory Asciolla (New York) was promoted to Of Counsel. Mr. Asciolla has extensive experience in antitrust law. He focuses his practice on representing consumers and businesses in complex antitrust and commodities class actions. Currently, Mr. Asciolla is representing clients in several important antitrust matters involving alleged price-fixing and other anticompetitive practices including In re Air Cargo Shipping Services Antitrust Litigation, In re Aftermarket Filters Antitrust Litigation, and In re Marine Hose Antitrust Litigation. Ethan D. Wohl (New York) was promoted to Of Counsel. Mr. Wohl practices in the areas of complex securities class actions and transactional shareholder litigation.
