Partner Carol C. Villegas has once again been named to Benchmark Litigation’s “Top 250 Women in Litigation” list in its 2025 guide.
Carol is the youngest litigation team leader in Labaton Keller Sucharow's history and serves as the Firm’s Chief of Compliance, a member of the Executive Committee, and Chair of the Women's Initiative. She was honored by Benchmark Litigation for her work shaping some of the most impactful matters in recent history and for her outstanding accomplishments which have earned the lasting respect of peers and clients and established a reputation for excellence.
Most notably, Carol was integral in securing the recent historic jury verdict in the landmark data privacy case against tech giant Meta Platforms, which found Meta liable for its role in the unauthorized collection and commercial use of highly personal health data from third-party app Flo Health, standing as one of the first cases where a jury has held Big Tech accountable for its handling of consumer health information.
Other notable successes in securities litigation include In re Nielsen Holdings PLC Securities Litigation ($73 million settlement), Allison v. Oak Street Health Inc. ($60 million settlement), and City of Warren Police and Fire Retirement System v. World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc. ($39 million settlement), among others. Carol is currently leading the high profile case against The Boeing Company alleging the company prioritized profits over safety.
