The National Law Journal interviewed Managing Partner Jonathan Gardner about the importance of training and collaboration in an article on how plaintiffs' firms are striving to keep competition out of internal culture.
A joint mission translates for most firm leaders into a strong commitment to human capital. “We strongly believe in investing in the development of good quality lawyers,” Labaton Keller Sucharow’s Managing Partner Jonathan Gardner told NLJ. The Firm offers an extensive training program for associates on a monthly, and at times bimonthly, basis. “Whether it’s a workshop on complaint drafting, or on research or on business of law, what makes a plaintiffs firm profitable,” all of that “should be part of young lawyers’ repertoire.”
At the same time, firm leaders emphasize a sense of senior partners being vested in the success of younger attorneys. “From the day associates get to the firm, we encourage a mentor-mentee relationship,” Gardner said.
