Michael Hotz is an Associate in the New York office of Labaton Keller Sucharow LLP. Michael focuses his practice on representing consumers in cybersecurity and data privacy litigation.
Before joining the Firm, Michael was an attorney at Ballard Spahr, LLP, where he worked on matters involving various laws such as COPPA, CCPA, the Florida Digital Bill of Rights, and New York State cybersecurity regulations, among other state and federal regulations. Prior to that, Michael served as an Excelsior Fellow for the New York Department of Financial Services in the Cybersecurity Division, assisting with the enforcement and revision of the state’s cybersecurity regulation, Part 500. He was also a Senior Analyst at Goldman Sachs in the Financial Crime Compliance Department, Law Enforcement Liaison Rapid Response Group, where he facilitated the firm’s response to instances of wire fraud and coordinated with law enforcement and other banks to recover stolen funds.
Michael has pro bono experience working with non-profit entities, as well as working to expunge criminal records for those with non-violent offenses in Florida.
Michael earned his Juris Doctor from New York University School of Law, where he was a Staff Member of the Journal of Law and Liberty. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Brown University. While earning his degree, he was a Congressional Intern to U.S. Representative David Cicilline.
